So here is what I understand:
- Cain offered GOD some kind of edible vegetation (e.g.:
apples, bananas, wheat, rice.)
- Abel offered GOD parts of an animal (a sheep or something
- which he had killed.)
- GOD did not like the vegetables but loved the (probably
burning) flesh.
- GOD went into a detailed explanation of this so there
should be no misunderstanding.
- Cain killed Abel.
- GOD got very upset with Cain and cursed him.
However, I don't REALLY understand:
- What exactly was the problem?
- If GOD thought that Cain should have known better: "And
the LORD God said: 'Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and
evil; and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life,
and eat, and live for ever. - Genesis 3:22 " meaning
that he knew right from wrong, why then did GOD feel the need to come forth with
the 10 commandments? One of these commandments states: "Thou
shall not kill!" and yet neither the Jews, the (any of 500 kinds of)
Christians, or the Moslems has ever officially obeyed it. (The very small
vegetarian minority has never stated that they are following these laws.)
- So, as far as I can tell, GOD may have said "Thou shall
not kill!" at some point but didn't really mean it. Obviously, GOD loved
Abel's animal offering right?
- So, Cain was no guiltier for killing Abel, than Abel was
for killing a sheep.
More conclusions:
- GOD is not a vegetarian.
- When some minister or preacher talks about lost sheep that
should rejoin the flock, just remember that GOD loves the smell of burning flesh
and not too long ago, the CHURCH has indulged that appetite by burning tens or
maybe even hundreds of thousands of our ancestors at the stake
